Nazca - One of the Worlds Great Wonders

The next day we were off to Nazca to see the famous Nazca lines. The night we got there we went to the Nazca Lines hotel where the famous researcher Maria Reiche of the Nazca Lines lived for the last 25 year s of her life and so they have a planetarium there where they give an hour lecture on her research and the theories behind how the lines became to be and how they are still there. She theorized that the lines were made over a thousand years by the different people’s in the area to reflect various constellations, to show the summer solstice and winter solstice, and for ceremonies. The most recent theory believes that it was mainly to navigate the underground water and rivers and for ceremonies. The Nazca lines are famous for the very large images of various animals “The monkey, The hummingbird, The Condor etc.”; however what I learned was that there are lines that stretch kilometres and there are hundreds of lines and triangles some kilometres in width. We met a guy named Daniel from Denmark who had spent the last 8 months travelling through Central America and now South America. He indicated the Central America had very kind people and highly recommended it which was nice to hear. The next day we bought plane tickets to fly over the lines. The plane held us and 3 other tourists. We took a 35 minute flight to see lines that stretched on forever and the various figures. The lines were really neat to see and being up in a such a small plane dipping and diving was awesome. Half way through I started to smell bananas which was odd. Then when we got off the plane a girl from Chille said I am so sorry guys and she held up a bag. The ride had not gone so well for her .
