Huacachina - fun in the sand

Next we were on to Huacachina. This place has a very blue green lagoon in the middle and is surrounded by mountainesque sand dunes on all sides. All the hostels had outdoor pools as it is very hot here. The second day we spent lounging around the pool and then at 4pm we went with a group of 10 or so dune bugging and then sand boarding. The dune buggies race up and down these huge sand dunes. It is even more stomach wrenching than a roller coaster. Following this they get you on wooden boards that look like snow boards. On the smaller hills we attempted to use it like a snow board but it is very different you have to lean on the back of the board to go, not the front. Then on the next 4 huge hills we’re talking hundreds of feet we were directed to lie down on them and go head first. It was incredible just like bob sledding. It ended with a view of the sunset over the sand dunes. I’ve never been in a place where you can just see sand as far as the eye can see. It was beautiful. We then had supper with two couples from our group a couple from France and a couple form England (James and Maria). James and Maria work for an accounting firm and took a year off to travel around the world.
