Boca Brava - Panama

We headed to Boca Brava Island on December 27th. We had to take two buses, a taxi, and a long boat to get to the island but it was worth it – warm weather! Along the way we had run into Bob the fellow Canadian from Lost and Found Hostel. Once we made it to Boca Brava Hotel we ran into 5 others from our Lost and Found Family –Angela and Andrew from Cincinnati, Vlad and Suzanna from Sweden, and Till from Germany. We had all come here separately to get away from the rain. The hotel was totally booked and so we were all lucky to get a room. Since they were so full every night for three nights the hydro would go out. Although it was slightly chaotic with all the people and sometimes lack of hydro the place and island were beautiful. While at Boca Brava we visited various islands by boat, went on a snorkelling trip where we saw a sting ray and various different fish, and a white sand beach, rented kayaks and paddled to pacific ocean, almost died paddling heavy waves between two large rock cliffs, laid on the beach every day, sat in hammocks, read, and hiked to the beach where the wild howler monkey’s eat leaves and were close enough to get on video and take pictures. The food there was awesome and having our Lost and Found friends around was very cool. Originally we had thought we would head to Boca Del Tora after a couple of days but the weather there was not looking good and so we decided to stay until New Year’s Day. On New Year’s Eve only Vlad and Suzanna were left from our extended family. They introduced us to two fellow Swedish girls and we all eat supper and played games until the boat heading over to the other island for New Years was ready to go. The party on the island was full of rum punch, Champagne, a bonfire, fireworks, and lovely people. Around 1:00 we got back on the boat to head back to the hotel. When we got to the hotel they were having a staff party and so the restaurant was packed. Scott and I made some New Years calls back home and then headed to bead as it was going to be an early morning heading to David again and then to San Jose, Costa Rica to meet Jason and Tanya. Yah!
